GOING THE DISTANCE: NON – LGBTQIA AT THE PRIDE MARCH

Every June, our friends from the LGBTQIA community celebrate Pride Month that they top off with the annual Pride March, but what is the Pride March, really?

It’s amazing to think that we can support a cause without directly being a part of it. It is showing unity in diversity. It is being one with the minority and simply fighting for equality. However, being an ally, there are a lot of things to put into consideration.

You need to go there with enough knowledge on why the march happens in the first place, just to be clear that it’s not all “rainbows and butterflies”.

“I just want to go there and support my friends. I want them to know that even a straight person or not a part of LGBTQ can join and support the LGBTQ community itself. I also want people to practice diversity by seeing us straight people joining the pride march. “ – Zyrine, 18

“I do believe that we all must be treated equally and we should be practicing our rights as a person and we must express what we really want without anyone interfering in that freedom as long as we’re in peace with other. Love is the root of all the happiness in life. You learn how to accept and love everyone who isn’t you, then we find the peace and happiness that we all seek. No hate, just love.” –Mikee, 20

Hope to see you next year!
