VISION ACCOMPLISHED
The two-time Vision Petron photography category winner always believed that the main purpose of taking photographs is being able to communicate the messages behind those images to the audience.
Since its launching in 2011, numerous COC alumni have joined Vision Petron to embody their visions and demonstrate how they see the world through their camera lenses. After bringing integrity and honor to the college and university through winning the said national competition in the photography category, can the victor still remember the visions he had before? How does he see his younger self now?
The two-time Vision Petron photography category winner always believed that the main purpose of taking photographs is being able to communicate the messages behind those images to the audience.
“I want them to feel the exact same feeling I had the moment I took the photo and if that would happen, it will be one of my greatest fulfillments,” so shared Ona when asked about his thoughts on the audience’s perspective towards his photo. His first winning photo entitled “Karunungan Mula kay Lola” is a photograph of his great grandmother while stitching a Barong Tagalog. A little girl helping her grandmother was also shown in the photo. “What I like about this photo is the message that shows the importance of not just giving a hand to the elders, but also, how the elders are able to help the young generation in learning something new,” said Ona.
Presently, James Ona has been marking the digital world with his photographs and is starting to make his own name as a professional photographer. His vision stays, and now, even with his busy schedule, James Ona has been sharing his vision to his student in Journalism Department of his alma mater.
